| Simon Ribeiro grew up in the 9th Congressional District, having moved to Evanston with his family in 1986. His father, Gerardo Ribeiro, is a professor at Northwestern University and world renowned Violinist. His mother, Joanne D’Amato, is an educator, having taught at schools throughout the country including State University of New York. Her brother, Alfonse D’Amato, was a U.S. senator, becoming the first Italian-American to represent New York state wide. |

| Simon attended Evanston High School where he was active as a varsity track athlete and musician. Throughout high school, Simon was involved at his family’s church, St. Mary’s in Evanston, as a youth leader and Eucharistic Minister. After high school, Simon attended NEIU, where he graduated with a Political Science and History degree. In 2004, Simon interned for Chicago Alderman, Margaret Laurino and was instrumental as an aid to Illinois State Representative, John D’Amico. In 2005, Simon became a U.S. Diplomatic Corps Candidate for the U.S. Department of State. In 2006, Simon became the youngest Congressional candidate in U.S. history. From 2007 until 2009, Simon served as a Deputy Voting Registrar and Election Judge for the Cook County Clerk’s Office. |
| Simon has worked as a teacher, swim coach, and lifeguard throughout Chicago, Evanston, and Skokie school districts as well as NEIU, Northwestern University, the YMCA, and the City of Evanston Lakefront Operations. He currently resides in Evanston, teaching in District 65 while pursuing a graduate degree in Education at National Lewis University. Simon has been a mentor to his students and an advocate for better schools and human achievement. As a volunteer, educator, candidate, and most recently, the Green Party nominee for Illinois’ 9th Congressional District, Simon embodies the political leadership needed to reinvigorate America. |
